Vitamin C - Everything you need to know

In the following, we will tell you everything you need to know about vitamin C. Among other things, we explain what benefits vitamin C can have for you or how much vitamin you should generally take. Did you know that vitamin C contributes to the normal function of your immune system?

What is vitamin C?

Like the B vitamins, vitamin C belongs to the group of water-soluble vitamins. Vitamin C must be taken regularly with food and is often referred to as ascorbic acid.

What foods contain vitamin C?

Everyone can absorb vitamin C through their diet. Parsley, red bell pepper, strawberries, papaya, nettle and wild garlic are considered rich in vitamin C. It should be mentioned that citrus fruits are not foods containing the richest amounts of vitamin C, although they are known as the "vitamin C bombs". In fact, many of our bears also contain vitamin C.

These include Bootylicious SHAPE Vitamins, Born This Way YOUTH Vitamins, One Bear A DAY Vitamins, You Glow, Girl Skin Vitamins and our Beach Guard SUN Vitamins.

What are the benefits of taking vitamin C?

Vitamin C is one of the most important antioxidants. This is because it can protect the cells from oxidative stress, the so-called free radicals. This means that your cells are protected from UV rays, exhaust fumes and other harmful factors. However, vitamin C is also involved in many metabolic processes in the human body and contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system.

According to studies, vitamin C is important for connective tissue metabolism, i.e. the cross-linking of collagen and elastin. It also has many positive effects on the skin. It protects against UV rays and, as a result, prevents premature ageing of the skin. It also has an anti-inflammatory effect and, therefore, serves as a wound-healing agent in skin care.

Some studies even show that vitamin C can be used in cancer treatments and reduces the side effects of chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

NASSIM JAMALZADEH:

"Vitamin C is not only important for the immune system but plays an important role in collagen formation, blood vessels, skin, teeth and the function of the nervous system. Vitamin C, as you can see, is simply an all-rounder and should definitely not be missing from your diet."
